We start out with a poster, because if you can make a poster (just a rectangle) you can make just about anything else. Plus, chances are you already know someone, or a charity, or a band, who could use a poster for an upcoming event which will help you start to build up your portfolio and also give you real-world experience working with someone else on a graphic design project.

Make a Typography Poster with Adobe Illustrator 4:32

Learning how to work with type in Adobe Illustrator is a ton of fun, especially when you know how to bend the letters to your will and create anything you want. In this project, you’ll learn the basics of how to work with Adobe Illustrator while making awesome quote posters using the quote, “A smooth sea never made a skillful sailor.” But, you can use any quote you want to follow along!
